Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department

The SVFD is an ALL VOLUNTEER force made up of a wide variety of community members who serve in many different roles to prevent and minimize the loss of life and property in our community through prevention, preparedness, and reliable emergency response. New members are always needed to fill available positions. Free training is provided.
Find out how you can be a part of the team

This week is National EMS Week. This year's theme is Rising to the Challenge. We want to thank the amazing SVFD team that rises to the challenge with each and every call. We couldn't do it without the ambulance drivers, fire police, officers, and fire fighters who arrive on scene to help us. They assist with lifting, moving patients, grabbing needed supplies, handling scene logistics, sanding icy driveways, traffic control -- you name it, they are there to help us and help our community. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!

--Your grateful EMT Team (Anita, Jen, Paul, Rik)

Are you interested in giving back to your community in a rewarding and meaningful way? Do you want to meet new people? Are you a good driver? Do you have a few hours (or more!) a week to volunteer?

We need ambulance drivers to help fill out our EMS crew. We'll train you to drive the ambulance. No special license required, just a clean driving record. In addition to driving to the emergency scene and to our area hospitals, drivers assist EMTs with moving patients on the stretcher and preparing the ambulance for the next call.

Daytime availability is especially helpful. When responding to a call, you may spend as little as 30 minutes if transport is not necessary or up to three hours for a roundtrip call.

Interested in learning more? Stop by the station on the first, third, or fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 PM to talk to us and tour the ambulance.
